@.#~2#For better compatibility and performance in controlling the ship's movement, use the keys: W, A, S and D. For real-time ads to work correctly, the following NVDA settings must be adjusted: In the new horizons window, open the NVDA menu and in the Profiles settings option, select new, type a name for the new profile and check the Current application (new horizons 1_1) option and through the keyboard preferences and settings menus: disable: Speak typed characters and Interrupt speech for typed characters.#
@.#~3#New Horizons, is a single player space combat and trading game, heavily influenced by Elite created by Bell and Brabham. New Horizons is set in a two dimensional universe. While trading is completed through a menu system, navigation and combat occur in real time.#
@.#~4#The aim of the game is to become successful through trading, bounty hunting, pirating, mining, or any combination thereof. You may start in any one of the 14 human factions spread across ten thousand star systems. Profits can be used to purchase equipment, or a better ship.#
@.#~5#Navigation and flight are relatively complex. Every ship is capable of interstellar travel by creating a hyperspace vortex, or by utilizing natural wormholes. Conventional engines enable flight within a solar system, and also provide an overdrive capability for skipping across local space at a much faster pace.#
@.#~6#You will encounter stars, planets, space stations, asteroid belts and nebulas, as well as numerous ships, cargo cannisters and other objects.#
@.#~7#Refer to the keyboard menu for the ship controls, and to select different keys.#
@.#~10#The game was written in BBC BASIC for Windows by R W Jeffs, and tested on Windows 7, running NVDA.#
